1. Open a browser, go to roaringapps.com to see which apps will run on Lion.
2. Open the App Store and download Lion (3.74Gb).
3. Once downloaded, go to your application folder, find the Install Lion app and right-click.
4. Choose Show Package Contents then click on the Contents folder, SharedSupport then copy the InstallESD.dmg file to your Desktop.
5. Open your Disk Utility by going to Applications Utilities Disk Utility.
6. Drag the InstallESD.dmg file to the left sidebar of the Disk Utility.
7. Click on InstallESD.dmg then click Restore on the right hand pane.
8. Click on Image then choose the InstallESD.dmg file on your desktop.
9. Drag the USB or DVD drive to the Destination.
10. Click Restore.
11. Click Erase.
12. Enter your password.
13. Click on the top level of your Hard Drive in the left sidebar.
14. Click partition, give it a name, size and click Apply.
15. Once Partition is complete, close Disk Utility.
16. Click on Install Mac OS X Lion from the USB flash drive.
17. Answer the questions in the wizard.
18. At the hard drive destination part, click Show All Disks.
19. Choose your Lion partition.Click Install then type in your password.
20. After Installation, go to System Preferences, Choose Startup Disk and pick which OS you want to default boot.
21. To change the OS at boot, hold down the alt/option key at boot and choose which OS to boot.

  • @adrianalert Apple will not let VMWare virtualize Snow Leopard. I was running Windows 7, Vista, and Snow Leopard Server but I didn't like the server version of SL.
