Carreras in 1977. The most beautiful and ardent rendition of this aria that I have ever heard.

  • Comes close to being the best, Id say ssecond, John McCormacks 1910 version, even with archaic instruments is even better, although this one is close!!

  • @murraymae Noted. Though with all due respect to McCormack, his voice never had the timber, richness, expressiveness and beauty of Carreras'. You may find some that disagree, but this would be general observation.

  • @novice1959 I agree with all you said!! Breaks mine too!! :)

  • I just loved him in these years and still do. Wonderful Edgardo!!

  • Beautiful aria! Unsurpassed tenor! Such ardor! Thank you so much for uploading.

  • Jose Carreras is unbeaten, uneclipsed in this record. Bravo Carreras, a great talent and interpretator. It is the best Edgardo I ever hear.

  • "The most beautiful and ardent rendition of this aria that I have ever heard."

    No argument from me.

  • Non esitono parole sufficienti per descrivere la bellezza e il calore di questa voce e la statura artistica di un così sensibile artista. BRAVO JOSE' SEMPRE!!! BRAVO ANCHE DONIZETTI PER AVER SCRITTO QUESTO STUPENDO FINALE D'OPERA.

  • @alfemv76

yes, how he would have delighted to hear Jose sing his arias :--))

    or Verdi, Puccini.

He is like no other tenor.

(even if i have to say I have more favourite tenors, not only Jose)

  • Absolutely wonderful. Thanks.
