Obviously i didn't set the web on fire with my videos in 2011. Someone was severely overlooked (ME ! ) but since that would be so tacky of me to mention. . . then i won't. **Sniff** Where is my sleeve, i need to wipe my nose. I'm SURE 2012 is going to be much better. It has been a year since i started posting the countdown vids and yes ! i still want to cringe when i look at my earlier work but i have left them up in case you want to compare and see how much better i have gotten, or if you need a good laugh. And the funny thing is i really thought my earlier vids were a work of art ! I got excited when i hit 30 views. Anyway. 1978 was also a good year and that is what i am reviewing (If my memory serves me correctly. . . my most valued Christmas present sitting under the tree that year was the Soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever" , that and a brand new digital clock/radio ) . This is the first installment. Their were alot of ways i could have approached this countdown but because of time contraints i chose to put them all in order according to their peak position on the Cashbox Chart. Ties are broken in the following order. Weeks at that postion, weeks in the Top Ten, weeks in the Top 40, weeks on the Top 100 and if that didn't break the tie, then the artist w/ the most chart hits and their was only a few such cases.
What were the songs that made the TOP 40 but missed the Top 200 Countdown you ask ?
#201 - Like A Sunday In Salem (The Amos And Andy Song) - Gene Cotton #37
#202 - Paradise By The Dashboard Light - Meat Loaf #37
#203 - Almost LIke Being In Love - Michael Johnson #37
#204 - Do You Believe In Magic - Shaun Cassidy #37
#205 - Can We Still Be Friends - Todd Rundgren #38
#206 - Love Or Something Like It - Kenny Rogers #38
#207 - How Can I Leave You Again - John Denver #38
#208 - If Ever I See You Again - Roberta Flack #38
#209 - More Than A Woman - Tavares #39
#210 - Can You Fool - Glen Campbell #39
#211 - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow - Dave Mason #40
#212 - Tumbling Dice - Linda Ronstadt #40
The survey period was from the last week of Dec 1977 to Dec 23, 1978. I did not include all weeks on the chart if a song was still on the chart Dec 23, 1978. So enjoy the coundown !
