Found this on a website --"Old Aunt Maria etc etc" was a jumping rope poem from my wife’s childhood in Dequeen, Arkansas. I can’t find the script but I think it went "Obedia jump in the fi-ah." Somehow it got to be "Old Aunt Maria" on the screen.
If I had known that the show would live this long (and that I would live this long) I would’ve paid better attention.

Actually they say that the style of music called "Rap" derived its name from the "Blondie" song, "Rapture". "They" meaning music scholars. But that doesn't mean Ernest T. Bass isn't any less entertaining for what he is! I've seen this episode recently, by the way. I only found my way here because I felt like searching for, "The Darlings vs. The Clampetts". Then I was going to do, "Ernest T. Bass vs. Granny Clampett". Thanks for posting your clips!
