My handmade ocarinas! Here are some ocarinas that I made and glazed. Some are pretty good and some are bad, but I think they get better every time I make one.

Thanks! It really is a nice little instrument. You can take it everywhere.. it`s easy to learn and it sounds great. So If you want something special you should get one and practice.
I make the basic shape of the ocarina, then cut the ocarina in half and scoop out the inside clay... then work on the airway and holes... put everything back together and then I start fine-tuning and adjusting the things I don`t like yet. It does take some practice to get right, especially the airway and soundhole.
You should take a look at the ocarinas that you already have and pay a lot of attention to the airway... is it all smooth? It needs to be just as wide as the soundhole... How big is your soundhole. (too big means airy notes, too small gives faint sounds in the lower regions). What is the angle of the ramp... is is almost the same as the ocarinas that you have? Is there enough space below the soundhole to make the air circulate properly? Just keep trying Jack and have patience...
