Here's where the samples on some of my favourite Daft Punk tracks came from. It's all legit, paid in full, above board. Still strange to hear, though.
The samples were spotted by http://www.ishkur.com/samples/ and the music was collected by http://palmsout.blogspot.com/2007/02/...
I just did the video editing.

The album Discovery is named as much for a reason. The whole things samples songs that inspired Daft Punk as kids. The album's name was Discovery for a reason. There's even an album entitled Discovered: As Sampled By Daft Punk you can buy on Amazon that has all of the songs they sampled. This isn't something they were hiding.

    1. FFS people, sampling is NOT stealing. Taking five seconds worth of a song, tweaking it, and/or adding vocals to it can hardly be described as "stealing," especially when they cite what songs they obtained the samples from which they have done. Stop being willfully dishonest.

    2. The duo are apart of the French House scene, a genre of house music known for sampling other people's music of the 70's and early 80s, so I don't get all this unfounded outrage at them.

I like rap and hip hop.... as long as it's about a legitimate topic. YOLO, Swag, money, sex, drugs, weed, etc, don't count as legitimate topics.

Haha good job noting that hypocrisy, I also think there is a general stigma against rappers in non-hip hop communities, funny thing is DP is collaborating with Kanye on his upcoming record "Yeezus".

there is no such thing as "stealing" with regards to creativity in the 21st century. all pieces of media, art or anything culturally significant are in the collective audio/visual unconscious. stop applying outdated 19th century ideas about copyright and ownership to modern creativity.

Daft Punk did not steal anything, they did nothing wrong. But you can't say they are original. They just took old disco stuff and edited it a little bit. Today we are listening to old disco music produced by Daft Punk.

It's not stealing (when you cite it) or did you deliberately ignore what I said?
