@BrendanIsCool. As a physician, science is an important part of my daily life. We have both seen horrors of war brought by man. I had the same beliefs as you until I realized my ability to help a trauma victim or the less fortunate comes from God. @dianetoluv -- you're so right about how when we all get to Heaven, Rich will definitely be up there as one of the worship leaders. I love this version with the commentary that really explains how Rich Mullins saw life and faith.

Rich Mullins was an inspiration to many people, and to me. He was unorthodox - and perhaps that is why his ministry was so very effective in bringing people to know his Lord and Savior. The line everyone is kicking "(he ain't just) PUTTING ON THE RITZ" was not uncommon at the time this song was written ... and it is very effectual in stating God doesn't do anything simply for theatrical purposes. So unless your ministry has been more effective than his, give it a rest.

@coppertime I LOVE Rich Mullins, but I have to agree that the "puttin on the ritz" line is cheesy beyond compare. However, I just try to overlook that, and enjoy his music. I don't particularly like this live version, though. But a few cheesy phrases taken into consideration, I feel Rich Mullins has been a wonderful gift to this planet.

The words we use that describe God really doesnt matter. (Not including curses and such) If I say "Awesome God" and to me that means the most high God. Then it doesnt matter. You can say what you want but God knows what I mean if I say that he is "Awesome" or "Rad" or "Gnarly."

Yes, these are bad things that happen. But God gave us free will, we can do whatever we want basically. But the ones that choose to use this free will to do the right things...well we will get the reward in the end. Trust me the reward will be worth it.
