Drs. Robert Marzano and Debra Pickering describe their excitement about the strength of iObservation in developing professional learning communities (PLCs).
In all these Youtube presentations, I hear generalities. I also hear "technology" needed and the Marzano institute people working with teachers all over the US. Am I to think this is for free? and when you say you want teachers to become better through your practices....the costs? Are the books a reasonable cost also? What happens when there is NO money in the district to purchase your products, white boards, and technology? I'm feeling a money making thing going on here.....
Dr. Marzano talks about teachers supporting teachers as the foundation of a professional learning commmunity. In order to use this structure to develop teacher expertise teachers need to have a well defined model of instruction on which to base their conversations. They need to measure their teaching against this model to identify stregnths and weaknesses, work on the weaknesses and interact frequently. Technology helps to ensure that these frequent interactions happen.
