650 people joined the Critical Mass bike ride in London on 26 March 2010, to show respects to three cyclists killed in previous weeks, two of them within 24 hours. London Cycling Campaign says urgent action is needed to prevent needless lorry deaths, the cause of over half of the capital's cycling fatalities, even though lorries make up only 5% of traffic. • Ban lorries at peak times? Are you crazy? They're not driving around for fun. Lorries are in cities because they're delivering goods. Without them, the city can't function. I do agree that all drivers should be better trained to respect cyclists. But the people in this video blocking the way of a lorry wont gain any respect from that driver.

  • @pickupstix99 Since 2007 Dublin has banned 90% of HGVs in its city centre between 7am-7pm, seven days per week. It clearly still functions as a city. The current HGV ban in London, from 9pm-7am, encourages a huge number of trucks on to the streets at exactly the same time as most cycle commuters head out hardly a sensible policy if the Mayor of London wants to increase cycle traffic fourfold, as he's stated publicly. Many drivers were supportive of the ride when the reasons were explained.

  • @SpecialHeinrich A recent government report shows that the EXACT OPPOSITE of what you say is true, with up to 75% of cyclist-motorist collisions being caused solely by poor driving, with the single most important factor being drivers 'failing to look properly'. Illegal cyclist behaviour is discounted in over 95% of cases.

  • i've spent my school holidays in london and i am lucky i participated in this. that was really amazing

  • In Adelaide (SA) large trucks arent allowed in the CBD and it clearly functions very well as a city. We also have dedicated bike lanes where cars arent allowed to go in. although to be fair cyclist do need to watch where they go as a car will always win

  • Car free cities everywhere! Pedestrian and bicyclists first!

Thanks for the great bike ride video... and the remembrance. R.I.P.

Best wishes for further international biking activities. :))

  • @SpecialHeinrich Can you back up your latest statement saying cyclists behaviour are getting worse or did you read that in the Sun as well?
