We caught up w/ legendary Hip Hop figures Pete Rock and CL Smooth who have recently re-united and are currently on tour.

Its been 8 years since we've seen the pair together here in the Bay Area, although both have been here numerous times separately. They came to support the Green For All activities that were taking place at Laney College.

CL came on stage and gave a 15 minute speech about the importance of healthy living and going Green. later on him and Pete came on stage and got busy for a good half hour.. Later that night they performed at the Mezzanine in SF.

During our interview Pete talked to us about his producing outlook. he told us who he's feeling, what he's learned from others and what he feels he contributed to the game.. he talked about the Bomb Squad and what he learned from working with them..

He also talked about who would be on his all star team of producers and rappers if he had to put together the ultimate album

CL talked about how he maintains his healthy outlook and spirit. he also talked about what its taken for him and Pete to come back together and work together. He says its like a marriage that requires one to pay close attention and care everyday..

he also talked about how he stays relevant with this new crop of emcees.

  • @NiceRaps I'm sure CL already apologized to Pete privately in considerable manner. Why else would these two be out in Oakland for this event if that wasn't the case? You say fans won't forget that but fans are forgivable as well and I'm sure Pete and CL have come to a brand new fond of wonderful commence with the situation and has left it behind them.

  • @illest22 well that what I mean. Pete ROck did used alot of jazz samples. A hip hop jazz influence album. I hope they dont try or limit the use of today type of beats.

  • @NiceRaps i agree

  • @Bloodsport1 no son they need to do a hiphop album if anything not a live band jazz album

    they are a hiphop group

  • CL needed to apologize for telling Pete Rock "make my beats faggot." Fans wont forget that, he wronged the man that made classics for him.

  • I'm so glad they're back together. 2011 a reunion album is going to be sick if they stick to their true sounds with the jazz tunes. They should make a live band jazz album.
