I Henna'ed!

Here is my recipe...

1. 200g Jamila Henna (ordered from Amazon.com)
2. 50g Amla Poweder (ordered from Amazon.com)
3. 2c green tea (used 3 tea bags+2c water...let steep for 15 min)
4. 1/4c lemon juice
5. 2tbs honey
6. conditioner

Mix first 5 ingredients above. Should be a very, very thick consistency and hard to stir. Cover and let sit for a couple of hours. While mix is sitting, shampoo and condition hair. Towel blot so hair is damp.

Apply henna to hair in sections, making sure to fully cover each section. Start from the nape of your neck and work your way up. Cover with a plastic bag or plastic wrap and let sit for 6+ hours (I did 10).

When rinsing let warm water (heavy pressure) run over the hair for about 6 minutes before you start massaging the henna out with your hands. When hair is completely free of henna apply conditioner (no need to shampoo). Work conditioner through with your hands for 5 minutes and rinse.

Voila!

  • I am going to order me some henna off amazon and see how it turns out for me. I have wanted to try it for a while but have been kind of scared. I have been natural for 5 years and two months and have not henna yet but I hear so much positive feedback about it. I guess I will give it a try.

  • @2006NaturalBeauty awesome! let us know how it works out

  • what is the true purpose of henna? and wat is ur opinion on texturizers?

  • @williams8410 henna is a deep conditioner...it's a protein and it had a red tint to it so it tints the hair as well (permanent tint)...texturizers in my opinion are light weight relaxers that over time and repeated application (you have to get touch ups just like with a relaxer) will full straighten your hair

  • @GodsGenuineGift Henna does dye black hair. You just have to have the right angle and the right camera to see it. It turns out very red as it's supposed to do.

  • So I Am Guessing The Henna Is Surpose To Dye Your Hair A Little? Your Hair Barely Changed. Im Confused. But I Do Want To Try The Henna...

  • The title got me sniggling.

  • You and I have the EXACT same hair type/curl pattern. Ever since my BC, I've been looking around youtube for someone with the same hair texture as I, and there you are.

  • I love your natural hair so healthy looking.

  • is your hair naturally curly like that or is that the effect of henna usage. I'm thinking of crossing over to the darkside with you guys (henna users). I've been getting perms all my life, and i'm sick of them... very damaged hair. I did a brazilian instead of getting a perm, and its aight. My natural hair without a brazilian blowout or perm is nappy. My hair is short because i had a Fantasia cut and then it stopped growing. HELP!

  • Why do many ppl with Black use henna but it doesn't dye their hair?

  • How long have you been natural now?

  • I would have rinsed out in the kitchen of the bathroom sink. Bathtub is too big.

  • what is henna to do?
