a masterpiece of surreal animation. This is among my most favorite of all time.

I think it's much more simple than that. It represents the way an olfactory stimulation makes through our body, beginning in our nose and tongue to our brain.
Though, I suppose each person is free to see and feel whatever they prefer, and those explanations were really beautiful.
I love Michaël Dudok De Wit, his animations are wonderful.
