What GM's bankruptcy means for ME.

Is Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper completely stupid? IT IS NOT OTTAWAS MONEY (9.5 billion US) THAT IS BAILING OUT GM AND CHRYSLER, ITS THE TAXPAYERS MONEY. WE ARE NOW THE OWNERS OF GM AND CHRYSLER. Harper is a civil servant working for Canadians not the conservative party or big business.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Monday a 9.5-billion-dollar bailout (Canadian tax payers money)of General Motors was "regrettable, but necessary," given the alternative devastation of Canada's manufacturing sector.
Harper's government offered (Canadian tax payers money) GM up to 9.5 billion dollars US (Canadian tax payers money) in financial aid in order to keep a portion of GM's production in Canada.
For helping out GM, Ottawa (Canadian tax payers) is to receive 11.7 percent of GM common shares and 400 million dollars in preferred shares once the company emerges from bankruptcy, filed in a US court earlier Monday.
"We will be seeking to sell (Canadian tax payers) our equity when the conditions are favorable," Harper said. "(Canadian tax payers) we certainly have no intention of being long-term owners of this company."
Harper does not have 9.5 billion US, the conservative party does not have 9.5 billion US, the treasury might have it if it took enough taxes from taxpayers or the government will borrow the money, putting all taxpayers on the hook for a burgeoning deficit. When and its not if but when Harper and his cohorts are kicked out they will leave office and a deficit legacy for all Canadians.

The Liberals are no better.

The cars are crap for the most part, but bankruptcy is good for GM.  The outstanding lawsuits against GM can't be pursued any more. Got to love the American way.

I'd buy a Dodge if they were reasonably priced with better options, a 10 year powertrain warranty, and wasn't such a gas hog. FYI, the new Dodge Charger using an 8 speed tranny is made by ZF, a tranny factory in... you guessed it- Germany, who also makes trannys for BMW. The Caliber SRT4 used Getrag trannys, another German tranny subsidy that makes trannys for BMW. As for GM, you can see a car lot filled with cars, but no buyers. Despite people's reasons, we all know why this is so.

Somebody asked me why buy a foreign cars when I should help USA by buying an American car? Ford has tranny problems in the Mustang (which now uses a BMW M3 tranny), the Fusion slips and grinds gears after 2 years driving, the Fiesta has trouble with the double clutch, and Focus has fit and finish problems, leaking water in by the doors and windows. BTW, both the Focus and Fiesta are made in Germany, and the Fusion is South American.

When a Brand new manufactured car (from GM Factory) is built and sold to a person owning a Dealership (examp. Henderson Chevrolet), is it not then a used vehicle thus should be sold at used car value price? Because when we buy a brand new car from Henderson Chevrolet, had it delivered to our garage brand new, is that not still a Brand new car like GM delivered cars to Henderson Chevrolet? It is no longer brand new after it leaves the factory and driven. It must be on a pallet with -40 miles.
