My visual production of "GOOD ADVICE" by the late, great, Allan Sherman.

Note: This video includes credited portions of a copy of an Allan Sherman recording titled "Good Advice". It is intended as educational demonstration of the comedy song parody recording styles of the 1960s. Images have been added in order to highlight phrases and enhance the educational experience of any student of the history of classic comedy recordings. Therefore, as the spirit and intent of this posting is in tribute to 1960s comedy recordings, as well as being an educational tool for demonstration purposes only, this production's posting on Youtube, meets with the requirements of the Fair Use copyright clause. If the posting of this video on my channel has resulted in an increase in sales of Allan Sherman's recordings, I will neither seek nor accept, from the recording's copyright holder, any compensation for effecting an increase in their profits as a result of their conversion of my video into a promotional tool for their benefit, as my channel is strictly Not For Profit and does not benefit me in any way.

  • Beautiful video -- thanks for doing it.

  • @FuzzyElf - Thank you Fuzzy!

  • Great song and great video, though there is a little mistake. When you show a pic of queen Isabel you're showing a pic of the queen Isabel who reigned about 4 centuries later than the one the song makes reference to. The correct one is Isabel of Castilla (the Catholic Queen), who reigned from 1474 to 1504.

  • @pepusy - Yes, you're right. But I couldn't find a picture of Isabel of Castilla. And when I wrote to her to ask for an autographed picture, she never wrote back. So I had to make the substitution.

  • Nice editing job, too. The two verses you cut out were probably the worst and you didn't need to have the "One more time!" reprise part in there.

  • @shirtandtiewilldo - I guess it's true. Great minds do think a like! Hahaha. Yeah anything over 5 minutes on youtube often get's ignored. So I felt for all the younger folks out there, who had never even heard os A.S., a trimmed down version would be best, Thanks again.

  • @CollegeGamerDotNet Benjamin Franklin was a charming old man, he was always flying his kite. One night I said "Benji, why ain't you out with your kite"? He said "Because it's raining tonight!" I said "Benji, sweety, you go right back out there, and to your kite string, tie a key. This may shock you Benji my boy, but that's electricity!"

I may still have this album, but it is NOT for sale. Sorry. I've also got the "Peter and the Commissar" album, in all it's glory.

  • It was quite catchy for Sherman to decide at the end to say something that was actually 'bad' advice - in this case Columbus sailing off the edge of the Earth. Ancient peoples believed the Earth was actually flat and thus such a scenario could occur; not sure how Columbus crossing the Atlantic ocean could tie into that happening - I see you show the two worlds overlapping at 4:18 - perhaps that was Sherman's idea?

  • Great song :D

  • He Had To, go to his nice uncle's cave

"too far" so he carved some wheels in pain

Firestones! Meet the Firestones! & the Early Stone Wheel family!

  • Brilliant song i used to listen to Alllan Sherman with my Dad and this was my favourite song.
