Gretsch Drum Solo Bob Chafe

Thanks to Stanton Moore for his RRLRRLRL diddle I took this into my own style and jammed it out.
My kit is a 07 Gretsch Catalina Maple Series and I'm using 2 overhead mic's, a kick & a snare mic. I ran those thru my power mixer into my laptop.

I have this kit and I need to get some new heads. I have noticed that many drummers like to use the Evan EC2 heads on this kit. This I will be getting very soon. However, I have heard many different arguments about the resonate side. I noticed that you are using the stock gretsch head for your resonate side. Have you tried using other heads and then come back? I have also heard that EC1 are good for the bottoms of the toms. Everyone's opinion helps. Thanks.

I've since switched the bottom heads to EC1 coated to get a little more out of the shell...I'm quite pleased with result.

I have a gretsch catalina maple and it's really a good kit sounding with remo emperors. I have performed lots of time on stage with it and I have had a lot of compliments, especially from sound engineers. and that really says something for me. it just HAS that great gretsch sound:)!

Yes it is a very good kit! but the guy playing on them makes them sound not so good.. Best kit for the money right now i will say.. But its not as good as USA. Maple Custom Gretsch..

ya im looking ito this set also to replace my ludwig accents cs 100 set

ive been doing tones of research and it is an incredible set although it is just a shell pack so it dossent come with pedals and cymbals stands and shit
