Today we will talk about genetic manipulation. After the recent announcement of a successful cloning of a monkey by a group of American scientists in Oregon, the issue of cloning of Homo Sapiens finds itself in the spotlight again. Will it ever be possible to treat 'incurable' diseases or clone human beings? Is genetic manipulation a hope or a danger for the mankind? To answer these questions our guest today is one of top world specialists on the matter, Director of the Bioengineering Centre at the Russian Academy of Sciences - Professor Konstantin Skryabin.

  • My beef is with EXTREME chimeric research, that is, the animal/human genetic splicing. I am not against bio-scientists using a subtitute animal cell that has been stripped of all genetic material and is only used as a vehicle. I am also against the studies of tranhumanism , using animals and connecting devices to their brains and tortoring them; this type of research can only have one purpose.

  • a whole army of rambos and shwarzies ..a beach full of pam andersons and offices full of einsteins eheh

  • we are all in trouble.

  • Unfortunately religion is big brick wall in west when it comes to DNA experiments. But still big results can only come from USA, Russia(curently nr1 in stam cell reserch in world) and maybe UK. China is years away.

  • A wealthy person could clone them self as a way to increase their gene pool in the world, and if these human clones mixed with the non-cloned population, the clones may be in the gene pool forever.
