RC model of Armstrong Whitworth Albemarle, RAF Medium Bomber, #9 of 297 Squadron as she looked taking off from a grass strip near Oxford at 20 minutes past midnight on D Day to drop pathfinders behind the beach at Normandy. The model was designed from RAF Photos, built, and flown by me. It spans 6 ft and has an operational bomb bay. It flies beautifully.

  • I'm interested in what Esc you use to power both engines and how you handle the hook up with the batteries.

The Albemarle has two 40 amp ESCs, one in each nacelle. Each is connected to a separate battery just behind the cockpit area. The connections to the receiver joins in a Y connector.

I like to use a separate BEC for safety. That way the ESC/BEC doesn't heat up as much, you can use more servos, and you can arm the motors with a blade fuse as a shunt.

On my Caribou, I used 2 ESC/BECs, but wired the power from each to half of the servos to keep from overloading the BECs.
