@ccilvr1997 It will take a very long time for the ankle to get normal, trust me. Why didn't they reapply another cylinder cast or put you in a knee immobilizer? Do you live in the US? In the US we generally tend not to cast knees and instead we put them in a plastic full leg immobilizer with wires. In the UK though I heard they do get a cast for a knee.
@ccilvr1997 Well the thing is your knee will actually bend as you move your ankle and what could happen is the cast could slip. I remember I had a long leg cast that didn't fit right after 6 weeks the cast would slip far enough to where I could see my metatarsal heads, they ended up then putting me in a short leg cast after the 6 weeks. The bone I broke was the tibia four inches and it was a bad break so I had a long cast. Once it was off I had significant atrophy in myleg.
I broke my patella the growth plate and they applied a cylinder cast but then as my leg atrophied it was really loose and not fitting right so they cut it off and put a long leg cast on instead.
I recently broke my knee in two places one in the growth plate, will I need a long leg cast, a cylinder cast, or a hinged knee brace. They said I will get a hinge on the cast or brace. They said no cast was required, right now they said I can bend it even weightbear.
Doesn't your patella move when you stretch your ankle. I bet most doctors don't use cylinder casts anymore. I bet they use the same long leg cast like if you break your tibia.
