  • Thank you for this. An inspiration.

  • @UnorthodoxPoppycock You're welcome. Schopenhauer means a lot to me and I'm glad there are others out there who get a lot out of him too.

  • I was here too :) A great man he was, Arthur Schopenhauer... one of the greatest philosophers of the Western civilization... He once wrote that he didn't care where he was to be burried because later generations will find his grave anyway - so true this prophecy was :)

  • I had read that comment of Schopenhauer's too and i only went to that Friedhof in Frankfurt to pay my respects to Schopenhauer. As you know there are thousands and thousands of graves there but i found his within 45 minutes without having any idea where to look. Quite odd! But i am glad to know there are still other Schopenhauer admirers out there.

  • I want to be there some day, my dear Father Schopenhauer!

  • The effect that THE WORLD AS WILL had on me was of one of true power. It is work of symphonic genius. So many truths are bestowed on the reader in that text. Much has been written of Arthur's pessimism but I didn't carry that feeling away when I read his chief work. On the contrary, THE WORLD AS WILL, along with Schopenhauer's work as a whole has always instilled in me a feeling of clarity, confidence and inspiration. He frees up the mind, frees it from all forms of confusion.

  • @kpmxyz I was surprised myself at the humility of the brothers Grimms` graves in Berlin. A German friend gave a neat explanation: "With that sort of name and reputation what added pomp do you need?" - a protestant thing perhaps.....?

  • toll! Danke!
