The game, which is set in a fanciful version of the American Old West, revolves around two bounty hunters who are out to claim rewards given for eliminating the most wanted outlaws in the West. There is no true "storyline" aside from collecting progressively larger rewards. At the beginning of each level the player is shown a wanted poster, showing the criminal, the reward for stopping them, and the cliché line "Wanted dead or alive".

The fire death animation by far was the most hilarious in any game I've played to date.

@Goodguy33 I was kind of grateful when I discovered that, since I HATED Wigwam/Scalpem in the arcade version; that bastard was so ridiculously hard, I hated him as a kid! The cableway part at the end of the stage is also a lot easier to negotiate in this version; in order to jump on the cliff, retrieve the items and then get back on in the arcade version you needed to pull off tricky jumps with perfect timing, while on the Genesis/Mega Drive it's a lot more comfortable.

Wow. You can shoot Chief Wigwam's knives out of the air in this version. That instantly turns him from the hardest boss to one of the easiest.
