From the Sega Ages Phantasy Star 1 remake for the PS2. Music, illustrations, dungeons, battle system, etc have all been redone.

Medusa's status attacks make this battle really annoying! When both Myau and Alis received stone status, I went all out and hoped Medusa would die, as neither Odin or Noah can heal it, and I was out of Soul Atomizers.

  • The question is were I can get this game for Play station 2 for america did exist or not

  • It was never released outside of Japan.

  • This could have been made on the original PS1 lol

  • That and these were meant to be budget games, sold for only 2,500 yen in Japan. They weren't meant to be masterpieces. ;)

  • Looks like the fight is harder than it use to be.

  • Yeah, if you don't keep on top of some of the status effects it can be a bit of a pain!

  • Wow, that character re-design for Medusa looks like complete crap. I could have drawn a better character with MS Paint. :(

Actually, there are quite a few art direction decisions in the Phantasy Star re-makes that tell me the dev team never bothered playing the originals.

Part of me is really sad that these games never made it stateside but another part is glad they never had a chance to sully such a brilliant series in the west.

  • Fans have made a retranslation patch for this game that replaces the ugly original font with a much better and more readable VWF in English text (no more all caps mode) as well as longer names for almost every spell/item. The best part of the patch is that you can switch between the 'original' crappy English music and the far-superior FM-sound from the Japanese version.

  • If I'm not wrong, if you get the Odin's Mirror Shield, Medusa can not transform anyone into stone.

  • @DerRudymeister

No shit, it's a remake of an 8-bit game. If you disregard the bigger color palette it actually looks worse than the 8-bit version as well. O_o

  • its a shame it was never released outside japan :(

  • @zoidburg111 gamebaz.com - I ordered a copy off there. Sure - it's Japanese, but well-worth it. Bought a Japanese PS2 along with it, a bit pricey, but as a fan, it's not too much. Ordered Gen. 2 and P.S. Complete Collection as well. Great buys, really. =)

  • @nekomimi84 Good thing she only needed one more hit at the end.

  • totaly sux they never realeased this in usa......booooooooo sega.......

  • i was soooo pissed off they never released this in usa...i still have the original master system cart but i totaly would have bought this...it still remains one of my favorite series of rpg games...they need to make another one other than that online stuff....i wasnt impressed by that at all

  • it's interesting to see that in your videos of this game, they the characters actually have conversations amongst each other and with others. that that quick one with Medusa right there. in the original game you just walk into the room and she tries to kill you. There is no lead in.
