History of the Victor Talking machine company . RCA Victor. Victor existed between 1901-1929, until being bought by RCA in 1929, of which would continue until the 1980s, when RCA was bought by BMG.
I've always loved Nipper and the RCA Victor logo, and "His Master's Voice" - they are icons. Music has evolved so much since the turn of the century. Not always for the better. I know RCA Victor didn't 'invent' stereophonic recordings but they were the 1st to release stereo vinyl records! I didn't know Are You Lonesome Tonight was such an old song! Great video... very enjoyable Bill!
Wow! How incredibly entertaining & informative! For history buffs like me, a clip like this is manna from heaven. THANKS so much for sharing this with me, Magnificent Maynard !!! :-)
Although RCA acquired Victor in 1929, the "RCA Victor" name didn't officially appear on the labels until the fall of 1945. General Electric bought out RCA in 1986, which almost immediately sold off the record division {but keeping the rights to the "Nipper"/"His Master's Voice" trademark} to BMG.
Wow ... so cool ... thank you Bill !! Very interesting ... great info here!
