Extracts on my film on Alexandro Jodorowsky

Fascinating and challenging, Alexandro Jodorowsky is a multi-talented person : director of cult-movies (EL TOPO, THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, SANTA SANGRE... ), founder of the "Panique" movement, performer of provocative happenings. mime artist, succesful comic strip writer (the INCAL, ALEPH TAU, THE WHITE LAMA...), animator of the "Mystical Cabaret", Tarot card master, launcher of the "psycho-magic"....

This is the quest of the multiple facets of Jodorowsky and includes views of those who have been closely connected to him (Fernando Arrabal, Peter Gabriel, Marcel Marceau, Jean "Moebius" Giraud, the martial arts master Jean-Pierre Vignau). They appear like mirrors in this quest and reveal that the only important search is for oneself.

The book is the story-board (drawn by Jean "Moebius" Goiraud) for the film to be DUNE directed by Alexandro Jodorowsky.

Forgive the violent ignorance I'm about to dispel...

Was Jodorowsky one of the filmmakers selected as candidate-for-director of "DUNE" (like Ridley Scott was)?

Either way, DUNE would have been AMAZING (but hey, Lynch didn't do too bad a job, right?)

Jodorowsky was the first to be on the project to adapt DUNE for the screen and works 2 years, with Moebius, HR GIger.... on it. It's only a few years after this first attempt collapsed that another project was launched with directos lined up like Ridley Scott and eventually D. Lynch. His film is quite good but nothing to do with the monument that Jodorowsky was dreaming.

I have wanted to see El Topo since first hearing of it in the seventies. Alas, it seems to be unavailable. Santa Sangre played commercially in Chicago in the 80s.
