Good suggestion, but remember to turn off and turn on the water again using a paper towel or similar. This will help you avoid getting germs on your hands again after you've washed them.

Please don't let the water keep running while you are applying the soap. This will help to:

a) save water

b) help you focus on applying the soap properly for a sufficient duration
