On the 24th of June 1994, Czar 52, a B-52H assigned to the 325th Bomb Squadron, 92d Bomb Wing, Fairchild Air Force Base, WA, was practicing maneuvers for an upcoming airshow. The aircrew had planned and briefed a profile, through the Wing Commander level, that grossly exceeded aircraft and regulatory limitations.
Upon preparing to land at the end of the practice airshow profile, the crew was required to execute a "go-around" or missed approach because of another aircraft on the runway. At mid-field, Czar 52 began a tight 360 degree left turn around the control tower at only 250 feet altitude above ground level (AGL). Approximately three quarters of the way through the turn, the aircraft banked past 90 degrees, stalled, clipped a power line with the left wing and crashed. There were no survivors out of a crew of four field grade officers.

  • I guess they wont be using that plane for the upcoming airshow.

  • i hope they survived.....

  • A guy broke his left feet in this crash. But now he is fine and back to skateboarding.

  • Why would you post this.

  • @keeffy74 please don't be stupid and act like you know what happened here. The copilot on this plane was a great family friend, read my last comments. This was not ground controlled, pilot bud holland (I believe that's his last name) was notorious for making dangerous maneuvers in B52s and this was the last dangerous thing he ever did. one of the men who died in this was my fathers best friend, who he was stationed with at fairchild AFB. All 4 people aboard this plane died.

  • Sorry last comment messed up iPad typing sucks sometimes, anyway he saved their lives that day. At the time, mark had a baby boy. A few weeks ago his son called my dad asking about his father who died in this crash. He's a grown man now. My dad told him stories of how he used to sneak out of bed and come into marks living room when they were all talking. I was only a year old when this happened but I guess my family was standing around the track watching this. Mark tried to eject but it didn't

  • Though I was a baby I was with my family as they watched this happen. My dad was a colonel in the USAF and watched his best friend die here. The pilot was stupid, his name was bud I think, and this was a practice run for the air show. Bud was going to be taking two pilots who were practicing up with him, but mark didn't trust him. He did too many risky moves in a plane so big, and told the other two young guys that he would take their place. He saved their lv

  • That's a huge fucking plane.

  • @Fireprince92 smart ass! lolz

  • LOL I thought they trained these fuckers how to fly.
