  • I work in a home for chldren on the spectrum. There are around 10 children in each house and 5 people that work night shift in the home which houses the youngest children. It takes all of us to work every night to comfort many of these children. I can not imagine having to do this on your own and then having to go about your day as well. I commend you and hope the best for you both.

  • @chelinek

Thank you so much. I commend you as well for helping these children cope!!

  • Yes, they were night terrors combined with a lack of sleep and autism spectrum disorder. Not sure where on the spectrum he falls but he is on the spectrum. Thank you for your kind words.

  • ty so much

  • I'm Lrobles83 on MDJunction. God, how I know exactly what you're going through. This was my life for three years until a dr. told me about melatonin. We survived.....hooray for us. :(

It definitely gets better. I think the kicking was self-stimming.....

  • its really heart-breaking to watch this. moms are the best in the world! all the best to you and charlie!

  • You are a wonderful Mom to have endured this for the length of time you did in this video.God Bless you and Charlie,he looks like a sweet little boy and is adorable as well.I cried when I seen him finally nuzzle his head onto your shoulder.I am praying all is well with your family.God Bless you all.

  • My son is exactly the same as this. Its so scary and sad. Hes currently in the process of being diagnosed with aspergers (hes almost 3). Did you find a way to stop them? He has at least 2 every night, as well as numerous nightmares to top it off.

  • @nessahambrinkon it is awful my daughter goes through the same thing i finally got her dr to refer her to a pediatric neurologist and she had sleep testing done...i cry almost everytime it just breaks my hear that there is nothing i can do to help her and the dr seems to think its no big deal

  • Drugs

    -the solution to any problem

  • I hope everything gets better for him, God Bless!

  • Simply heart breaking. Praying my son doesn't go through this...not sure if I'd be able to control my emotions. Being unable to 'save' him from whatever is scaring him would feel like the ultimate failure for me :(

  • Been there; done that. Wish I'd known at the time that this was not what children normally do. I thought I was inadequate. It gets better - keep up your strength. Lean on people who can support you.

  • that is so sad. i feel so bad for that little kid god bless him

  • It would be helpful to hear his conversation with you. The music is a bit loud. I'm wondering how much children talk during a night terror like this as I'm not sure if that's what my daughter is having. She does respond (with violent screaming responses) when we try to talk to her. And can remember bits of it the next day. We tried melatonin one night but she was soooooo tired the next day. I've been scared to use it again.

  • I watched this video and felt like I was reliving my last 2 nights. I will take anything over this. UGH! It sucks! Is there anything that you did to help resolve this? Thanks for the insight!

  • Charlie it was so sad to see you like that, brings back so many memories of when Martin (my brother) was your age, he's 19 now. You'll both be fine sweetie, just takes some getting use to for mummy, but she's doing just fine with you, big hugs to you both xx

  • i sleep with that pill

  • Oh my goodness. I cried watching the entire video. Actually I had to skip it forward or I would of completley fallen apart. First off, to the mama; My heart goes out to you. You are in my heart and my prayer's. Alway's.

My first thought was night terror's. If it's autism or asberger's, it would be a more milder form of it. Or pervavsive personality (PDD).

I'm not sure. Im just having my son diagnosed for these syndrom's. There is help everywhere. You just need to look. You desreve it :)

  • @eyadusmaximus He has Autism-this is typical behavior. Most children with Autism has sleep issues. He needs to be restrained so that he won't hurt himself. Children with Autism also sometimes need deep pressure to help them decompress when they are over or under-stimulated, hence the holding on tight and the wrapping him up tightly in the sheet. Do your research before you make uneducated remarks.

  • Yep-we use a combination of melatonin and children's Benadryl & it works like a charm. I don't like having to use medication on my child, but between pre-school and her therapy sessions, she works 35 hours a week (she's 4 1/2 years old) and needs to be well-rested. After we started using it, the behavior was like night and day. Her teacher was amazed.

  • poor baby

  • He could have also been having a seizure....

  • You are a jerk for saying this! His tummy is hurting and his brain is overacting. He is not having a tantrum, and he certainly does not need to be left alone! JERK!

  • This looks like a classic "Night Terror" episode to me. Not much you can do and they say it's best NOT to try and hold or intract with them. Just keep them safe and from hurting themselves and let it run it's course. They are in a dream like state,

  • well why dont u leave him alone ..watch him from a distance so he stop relying on u ..untill he learn how to calm down himself
