@Foaje Have you watched Dear Wendy, a film written by Lars very similar to Dogville but about guns rather than the myth of the frontier town and liberal US values?
He shows how language in American is at it's roots Orwellian, with the acts of love and sex substituted in the use of deadly force. He also explores violence beautiful side, if acted out by those who represent a pure cause VS the same actions carried out those using of force for the elite classes are devoid of this beauty.

This, and The Hallelujah Chorus (Thanks Evangelion) are songs I can no longer listen to without freaking out a little bit.
-
I think the point Lars is trying to make is how easy it is for people to take advantage of those unfortunate enough to end up on the lower rungs of society. At least, that's how I take it.

End of the Movie: HOLY shit.
Start of these credits: Holy...What the fuck?

Lars Von Trier is very ignorant in how he views America as a horrible place an with the photos he represents. Von Trier has never been to America and is very wrong in sterotyping Americans as horrible human beings. As for the photographs, those were taken in harsh times of struggle and need. He must have forgot to show the photos of Americans helping each other out and prospering. If we went through photos from Denmark I am sure we could find stuff just as similiar to what was shown.

Lol, Lars trolled you guys so hard.

@mujdalsiucetkurva Ah, at last someone sharing my point of view! People tend to judge this movie as criticism of human beings and especially in the US, but the fact is, Lars von Trier doesn't care to give his opinion on anything that happens in Dogville. it's just a nihilistic presentation of his ideas, not his statements
-
those credits are example of brilliant nihilistic trolling.
In the DVD commentary, von Trier proclaims that his critics can't possibly argue with the "facts" as he presents them through these photos and this song. That's a bogus claim considering the selective way he presents the images and music, but the results, independent of the movie, clue us in to the level on which von Trier often operates - that of a teenager who suddenly gets political and has to enlighten the world. In that sense, they're revelatory! And the song bleeds cool, so that helps.

@Coolestmovies hmm, interesting point, but I tend to think the images alone are pretty revelatory and self-explanatory even without context (other than that they are from the US).
