This is my all-time favorite version of the Blind Willie McTell song. This is David Bromberg's version, incomplete as you can see. I'll get back to posting a complete version...promise. This is in dropped D tuning. Played by Keith Johnson. Visit www.celticcatprairiedog.com for other info on my musical efforts.

  • Thanks Frank. Like you I listened to this song over and over in the 70s, and I think that's how I learned it, by saturated osmosis. I still remember the first time I heard this song...it stopped me dead in my tracks. I'll be putting up a more complete version of this song soon (I hope). I'm guessing you might also like Bromberg's version of "Delia" also, which I might try post sometime.

  • Wonderful Job ...Thank you :)

  • You do a more than credible job with this one..I'm jealous! 've seen Mr. B manytimes, and believe he would say "good job"

  • This is a beautiful cover of the bromberg version! you did an amazing job with the guitar. i tried and tried and tried to play this song but it seems impossible. just wanted to say nice work. i really enjoyed this. one of my favorite songs in the whole world. thank you

  • very nice. Does it get much better?

  • David bromberg is well under the radar, and thats sad, i grew up listening to him and i loved the way he plays, love the lyrics too. He is a very tallented musician playing lead and rythm guitar. I don't believe has a star in the walk of fame which is pretty sad considering the other artists that do. He's like a cross between wierd al, frank zappa with the blues of robin trower. funny because he looks like the first two also lol. five stars for DB

  • excellent version ..really enjoyed that!!!!!..

  • nice pickin man...

  • I first heard this song by TOM RUSH one hellava good voice.

  • Sounds great. Keep it up.
