Two philosophers travel time in search of the Overman, a mysterious being that may hold the key to understanding human evolution. This is a short film me and my friends made at uni, so don't expect anything too great. The music used in this film is from Michael Moynihan's band Blood Axis and Amber Asylum which is headed by Kris Force. Thanks to the two of them for letting me use their music.

  • in response I say that there is no distinction between us and nature. We are one and the same. So if we are deciding on something then it is also nature's decision. Personally, though, I think that our evolution will continue to be decided on the sub-conscious level. And it will have little to do with the altering of the human body and everything to do with the altering of the mind.

  • jack19790 wrote this b4 i accidentally deleted it..... How are we "altering nature"? If we decide to put v-chips in our head or breed a special brand of humans its not "we" who decides. It looks like a "decision"; but it is the natural corse that nature has taken. There is no "we" or "I". Given a state of the Universe at one time our actions, this sentence could have been predicted. (Possibly.)

  • technology is the last thing the Superman would be interested in- except ofcourse the internet to spread the word- or hiesenbergs uncertainty principle which illustrates that objectivity is an impossibility, check out my channel, nietzsches a hero of mine

  • No astrology is the last thing the Superman, or Nietzsche for that matter, would be interested in. The Overman is "to humans what monkeys are to us". The question is could technology play a role in this evolutionary transistion, such as through genetic research, and what will be the form and nature of the Overman?

  • I believe he would be highly opposed to putting v-chips, memory enhancers, and all that android material beneath our scalps. If we're destined to 'evolve' it would happen naturally, according to nature's plan. Science should have nothing to do with the enhancement of emotions or thoughts, straight blasphemy against our bodies. "Our bodies have more wisdom than even our deepest philosophy." Why alter natures course thru technological means if we're supposed to be evolving strictly biologically?

  • No I'm not into that Android stuff either. I was interested in possibilities of altering human DNA at its source to create better people. At the end of the film I come to the conclusion that natural selection is the only way the Overman will occur. That's why the overman is a woman at the end.

  • The overman is not some super-bred evolutionary human. It is a human who has mastered himself and his nature. Nietzsche felt that a super-bred human was still all-too-human in nature and that the overman is a spiritual being.
