Its possible (not likley) an American Ape evolved night vision. In view of facts that no other hominid, ape, monkey, orangutan or human did while doing the same activity then probably not. BF is not in some secluded niche cut off from the rest of the world. Tapetum lucidum ( the reflective chem/structures in reflective eyes) is not found in humans and since BF may have basic primate like DNA it is just not likely he has night vision.
