  • It is Kaiser Lee Board a special fiber board made with compressed particles of Alumina and a low percentage of Silica. It is prefired and lasts 100s of firings. Our kiln shelf is 11 years old now and still going strong.

  • What material do you use to make molds?

  • It is Alumina, Silica - very easy to carve and shape. It lasts forever and is an ideal medium for kiln forming glass.

  • No audio???

  • I was able to make a 10x10 inch plate using one of your boards on my 12 inch ROUND kiln shelf. Before I was only able to make 8x8 because the corners hung over the shelf. :)

  • Question...does this need to be coated with kiln wash and should I use thin fire on the bottom?

  • Thankyou! I purchased a 24" x 48" piece of KLB, pretty expensive product. I split it with a good friend TG! I used it for a kiln shelf in my 18.5 octogon Olympic glass kiln, love the extra floor space. So now I have some scraps and I am so excited to see I can make a couple of molds, Yay

  • What is the board your cutting made of? It looks like plaster of paris.
