Faith saves? Yes. Having true faith in Jesus, the believer will be made a new creature. He will be born again. He will have a new nature, mind, heart and will... this will always lead to works. Glory to God!

Here is what mormonanswerman says:
"Mormon Faith without Works is Dead. Abraham was Justified? by Works" mormonanswerman
"Many christians profess a belief in Christ and then proclaim that works are not necessary for salvation, that they are not a part of it. But this conflicts directly with all that Jesus personally taught, and it certainly conflicts with the writings of James who spelled it out explicitly. James even went as far as to say that Abraham was justified by his works in having the faith necessary to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice to God. He of course did not have to do this, but he didn't know that, and so it was accounted to him as righteousness, the WORKS were accounted to him as righteousness. This is interesting because there are many christians saying that works don't matter, they don't count for anything. yes they do. They always have.

The Mormons believe in being born again first, then after that, being baptized to follow the commandment and example of Jesus to be born of the water, and then to receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost.

  • NO, we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We are not saved by virtuous faith, that kind of faith is a fruit of the Spirit. We are saved by uniting with Christ by faith, this faith comes from helplessness and hopelessness, hardly a good work. God saves us because we are unable to save ourselves. Not by baptism, not by faith, not by works, not by repeating a prayer, not by loving or caring, but because we are hopless, helpless and wayward and Jesus Christ is full of grace and truth.

  • I find that when I stay away from the word of God I get weak , but when I,m around the word and other believers , I am that new creature, please pray for me,, that I might have that strength when I am out in the world to be what God has made me to be through his son Jesus Christ

  • Baptism is a WORK and necessary for salvation and God's grace. Your's and my Bible says so - John 3:5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

One thing I do agree on is that faith is an essential principle in order to attain grace.

  • 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. • • • 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? • • • 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

    James chapter two. AMEN.

  • After all you can do right? first do the works and then earn the Grace? What is the will of the Devil and the Flesh? do you know?

It does go back to when Satan was in heaven and tried to be like God and got cast out of heaven. Then he told Eve that if we eat of the fruit of the tree we would be like God. Now he is telling Mormons they can be Gods.

Be careful and watch your step, Check the path you are on.

    God Bless

  • We all sin and fall short of the glory of God, we should try our best to do good and truly repent when we stray. If you are truly saved you don't want to do evil, even though evil is in your nature, you are given a contience that will alert you that you are out of God's will. The wonderful thing about God is He knows our hearts and if we beg forgivness we will be forgiven. He wants us to give ourselves to Him completly and trust that His way is what is best for us. God bless you!

  • 2 Nephi 10:24

"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved. "

  • When you place your trust in Christ, submit your will to his and obey his commandments, understanding that perfection is not required but rather sought for, you are under the grace of God. Those who are doing these things have no need to fear. When you laugh at innappropriate things and then feel the godly sorrow spoken of in the NT you can rest assured that your heart is right. You then need to work to overcome that weakness with Gods help. We are imperfect beings. I liked your comment above.
