I love this! Very creative! Is this for a class at UC Davis? I would love to know more about graduate programs in the US for animal (spec. canine) behavior.

I teach a few types of dog training classes on campus but not through the general college. It's through the experimental college which is a student run organization. to find out about behavior programs go to my drsophiayin web site and look at the page about getting into behavior. I list a bunch of resources.

In classes I usually use natural balance. At home I have dogs work for their dog food. For leave-it I eventually use the highest value stuff that will every be on the floor or in the dog's reach:-). I also do this exercise where reward is getting their toy, playing with other dog, or whatever they really really want. (e.g. they learn they can have it if they first ask me).
