I was the second pilot to launch in this sequence and fully briefed the wire crew (a couple of hikers I recruited for the task) that I would use the word "clear" when I was going to launch and that they must not be holding the wires after that. Looking at the video I can see that I was really struggling to gain control of the glider from the two guys on the wing wires.
Those cliff lauches can be tricky...I always say the pilot must use the word RELEASE...One chap we launched in france said OK instead... One wing man let go the other didnt...result glider totalled pilot lucky to be still with us!
...good wire crew ; that 2nd launch seemed to have an especially good
wind cycle; no really gusty or switchy
air for enough seconds to glide clear.
