TUTORIAL ON ABLETONS LIVE EXTERNAL EFFECT PLUG IN . USING A KORG MINI KAOSS PAD W/ ABLETON LIVE TO EFFECT YOUR CLIPS AND SAMPLES.

OVERVIEW -

SET UP - 3 CHANNELS

1. AUDIO - SAMPLES YOU'D LIKE TO EFFECT

2. EXTERNAL EFFECT PLUG IN - ( YOU FIND THIS IN LIVES BROWSER VERSION 7 OR HIGHER)

3. AUDIO - THIS IS THE CHANNEL YOU WILL RECORD YOU EFFECTED CLIPS

ROUTING -

ROUTE THE " MAIN OUTS " OF YOUR SOUNDCARD INTO THE " LINE IN " OF YOUR EFFECTS BOX ( KAOSS PAD OR GUITAR PEDALS )

NEXT

"LINE OUT" OF KAOSS PAD INTO " LINE IN " OF YOUR SOUNDCARD ( INSTRUMENT INS OR STEREO INS )

TO MONITER

ATTACHED MONITERS OUT OF YOUR SOUNDCARD TO YOUR STUDIO MONITERS
OR PA - YOU CAN ALSO USE HEADPHONES IF YOUR SOUNDCARD DOESNT HAVE ADDITIONAL MAIN OUTPUTS

NOW MAKE SURE ON CHANNEL 1 THE MONTIER IF " OFF "
ARM THE " RECORD " ON CHANNEL 3

YOU WILL NOW BE ABLE TO MONITER IN REAL TIME YOUR EFFECTED CLIPS AND SAMPLES

thanks for the help, but it's frustrating as i can't see the routing set-up you've used in ableton. i'm trying to get it together with vox sent to an outside source (TC Helicon FX pedal), but i've got crazy feedback loops, as i can't seem to control everything that's going into it! do i disable all other trax inputs and outputs?

...confused. ouch.

e1705 - 120g - 2ram - i use a 500g external hardware for xtra space - works fine - had for 3 yrs now - no major problems just get a external hd for more memory

im rly new to all of this, i have able live 8, and a m audio axiom 49, im just wondering if i get a sound mixer and a audio interface can i use them with ableton and record them into ableton in seperate tracks to organize and edit? like i said im very new to all of this

@joeyparanoia Did you make a new video explaining that? I'm trying to run a guitar through Live, out to a few distortion pedals, then back into Live. I'm getting insane feedback though; any tips?

May I ask why didn't you use your other outputs on your soundcard to achieve this? I mean is it even possible. I'm trying to figure out how to hook up my TL Audio Ebony A2 compressor to Live 8.

This might have already been covered, but effecting samples without effecting simultaneous ones. Like loops. Is that a matter of the channel? Very helpful vid. Thanks.

agreed hardware sounds (and looks!) better. I use alesis air fx for all my effects, similar thing to kaoss pad but effects are applied by manipulating an infra - red dome.
