  • What! those things come out of a car rearend!?????? please tell me they did ! I'll build one!

  • @indianchief741 yes they did. 1987 Dodge 3/4 van to be exact

  • also there is no guarantee that there would be a counter rotation as you prooved when you first started rotateing that.

  • @docscot11 ........I'm not sure what you're talking about. See the videos of the rotors on the machine running

  • The problem i have is the friction on the spider gears, how do you plan to keep them cool?

  • @docscot11 ....The spider gears are in a can which has 90w oil.

  • wheres the copter?

  • @chrismofer that wont work without changing the elevation of the heli. :-( and If I recall, could create so much torque it would snap the rotor hub (apply to much pressure on one side of a counter rotating fixed gear device) the exact reason they use independant axle's, one will slow down more then the other or they both do it at the same time. :-(

  • @Me102288 i don't fully agree that this is pointless for a no tail heli, because if you could change the pitch of the blades that's another way to differentiate torque and turn the heli.

  • @chrismofer so you agree this is kinda pointless for a no tail heli..

ya, me to, you need 2 engines an 2 axle's for a proper NOTOR :-\

  • @Me102288 no i entirely understand that mechanism and not needing to counter for torque. but i'm saying for yaw control it would be used. because, yes, they are locked together.

  • @chrismofer dont need one, thats why you use counter rotating blades, to get rid of the entire tail of a helicopter.

in this case it looks like they locked together so you would need a tail rotor just to spin

Kinda defeats the point of counter rotating blades :-o

  • @oysterlicker tail rotor. BAM

  • @docscot11 Its simply an illusion. watch it again imagining they are counter rotating. you should see. @NickMonteleone he sees the top rotor as rotating in the same direction as the bottom rotor because he perceived it wrong. its called an optical illusion. the brain does weird things.

  • There is supposed to be a different number of blades on top as those below in order to counter the blah blah blah etc.

  • This rotor head does not provide any way of turning left or right and there is no way to pitch the blades, So all you have here is a peice of CRAP!! Did you research how rotor heads work before you built this one?
