wow finally found another bird with a similar condition to mine but his looks so much better controlled then my amazons (his beak acutall turns to left rather then down) how are you correcting it as local vets wont treat my little fellas and im sure he be better off with a better shaped one (he can still eat and do normal stuff but still be nice for him to have it fixed)

scissors is where the upper mandible is not straight and does not meet correctly over the lower mandible. The closest human term woud probably be someone with a cross bite. If the scissors beak is too severe it can prevent the the bird from holding or grasping food. There are several theories as to what causes it - improper artificial incubation, handfeeding teechniques, heredity or if it developes over time, improper nutrition. It is rarely seen in parent raised birds.

The breeder gave Owen to me due to his scissors beak and due to the fact I am a very experienced groomer and I specalize in reshaping beaks. I like to dremel spreading it over a few months when possible. It's TOO stressful and can cause the bird pain and bleeding if I were to grind it down to how it should look the first time.
