not once but twice, in two different countries, bengalis sacrificed lives for the same cause - to retain the honor of their language. when we remember the martyrs of 1952, we should also remember those brave bengalis of shilchar in india who were killed by indian police in 1961 during a protest against the decision of assam state government to make assamese the only official language of the state!
