How to text message (SMS) a real cell phone with an iPod Touch or iPhone, completely free!

Impress your friends by texting their cell phones with an iPod, and start bragging to them! Or save a ton of money on your texting bill by doing this!

Steps:

1. Get an iPod Touch or an iPhone (If you use iPhone, then you will be able to text for free in a WiFi Area.)
2. Get a cell phone (If you have an iPhone, this probably won't be a problem. You might be able to text your own phone.)
3. Create an AIM account here: http://www.aim.com
4: Download the AIM app from the app store on your iPod Touch or iPhone.
5: Type in your account info, and go to "Contacts."
6a: Go to "edit" on the top somewhere, and press the "+" where the edit was.
6b: Type in your cell phone number where it says contact info. Note:
You must type in a "+" or a plus sign in front of your number. Then, type in your country code(In the United States it is "1"), and then your area code, and then your number. Example: +13811033849
7: Then say that it is a buddy, and just type that person's name.
8: Click on their name, and then type the message that you want to the cell phone.
9: You will receive the message on your cell phone!

Yes i think it does cost them money.

If you send any text messages to anybody, I think it would charge them.

If they text message a lot, it probably wouldn't be a huge problem, because a couple of cents wouldn't amount too much. Ask them if you can send them texts first.

1) Download textfree from the app store

2) u get ur own number

3) then it simply works :/

I was wondering if it includes the Australian phone number because I tried it before and didn't work so dose it work for your version or not? The Australian national code is +61 .
