Cette musique a tellement le don de me faire pleurer. Souvent j'arrive à tenir les deux films sans pleurer, même quand Jean meurt, même quand Ugolin se suicide. Mais quand je vois le papet à le fin arriver en boitant mettre des fleurs sur la tombe de son neveu et le regard qu'il a quand il découvre la vérité, je ne peux pas m'en empêcher. C'est le personnage qui me fait le plus de peine dans toute l'histoire

What a wonderful orchestral version of this haunting theme. I'm not surprised to find that it was written by a composer of Verdi's ability, and the original instrumentation here is more satisfying than the harmonica one used in the film. Have other people had the problem of the music cutting out at the 3 minute mark? At any rate, I encourage people to see both "Jean de Florette" and its necessary continuation "Manon of the Spring".
