Read this please. Tribute to breve peuple fighting in Warsaw UpRIsiNg.
The Warsaw Uprising (Powstanie Warszawskie) was an armed struggle during the Second World War by the Polish Home Army (Armia Krajowa) to liberate Warsaw from German occupation and Nazi rule. It started on August 1, 1944, as part of a nationwide uprising, Operation Tempest. The Polish troops resisted the German-led forces until October 2 (63 days in total). Losses on the Polish side amounted to 18,000 soldiers killed, 25,000 wounded and over 250,000 civilians killed, mostly in mass executions conducted by advancing German troops. Casualties on the German side amounted to over 17,000 soldiers killed and 9,000 wounded. During the urban combat—and after the end of hostilities, when German forces acting on Hitler's orders burned the city systematically, block after block—an estimated 85% of the city was destroyed.

The Uprising started at a crucial point in the war as the Soviet army approached Warsaw. The Soviet army had reached a point within a few hundred metres across the Vistula River from the city on September 16, but failed to make further headway in the course of the Uprising, leading to accusations that Stalin did not want the Uprising to succeed. The Warsaw Uprising was probably the largest single operation organized and executed by a partisan organization in WWII. It lasted two months, and when it was over, 200,000 people were dead, and the entire city was in ruins. In trying to achieve its goals, the uprising was a terrible failure. In showing the courage and the dedication of the Polish nation, it was a remarkable success.

  • danzig was never german.since ever official language of danzig was polish, not german.it was called free ity of danzig under protection of Nation's League.formally it was still dependant on poland.and as for suvorov, well call it paranoia if you like but i simply don't trust kgb.both active and retired.

  • @maryan013 ah, complete misunderstanding - its obvious you don't know those authors or didn't care to check out. Those are authors that were couldn't write about the truth before 90 - those wrote books about ... well just watch this presentation by Suvorov - ex KGB agent - watch?v=I7zVLfjWzmE .

My whole point is that Russia - i.e SU - did more damage to the poles than the Germans. The germans asked for what was theirs (Danzig), but SU didn't have anything to ask for - simply invaded.

  • @Spandex08 how can you say that books written under regime's censure are not propaganda?will you deny that 17 of sept. 1939 red army crossed polish borders and started occupation?also please explain why in your opinion poles shouldn't blame russia(just to clarify:we blame stalinizm, not common day russia) for those 20000 soldiers?and as for russian propaganda just check putin's win in past elections.even russians say it's all fixed.

  • @maryan013 Russian propaganda about russia? really? - The history books written by the victors of ww2 are not propaganda but present day modern research is propaganda?

History books written in Soviet Union (led by dictator) and countries under its influence like Poland, Romania Bulgaria...etc is not propaganda. All of that is not propaganda, but some historians that don't take any money and risk being expelled from their own country is propaganda? Stalin was a lot worse than Hitler to the Poles

  • @Spandex08 sounds like russian propaganda to me.snap out of this.stalin was no better than hitler.and yes we have the right to blame "soviets" for katyn crime.it was pure murder.still read some "genuine" books, get some real knowledge.

  • @maryan013 read victor suvorov, Valeri Danilov, V.A. Nevezhin, Mark Solonin, Boris Sokolov and then come talk to me, brainwashed kid by the propaganda in your highschool history books.

  • @Spandex08 demanding Danzig as well as exteritorial highway were only an excuses for invading Poland.read some and get some brains

  • song name? - btw poland should have given the GERMANY"S RIGHTFUL CITY DANZING - to them.

Also don't blame Soviets who killed 20 000 intellectuals and officers and what not in the polish society.

  • Glory to Mikolajczyk and the courage of those Poles, who, at long last, are the patrons of their own country.
