It's unbelievable that the US continues to be expected to support and defend Israel. What consequence is it to us if Israel is taken down by everyone that hates them around them? That has nothing to do with us. Let them figure it out for themselves, we have no place in this never ending dispute. It's insane that our children die because of our alliance with what has basically become our lazy son in law we have to fully support. And all for religion? Ridiculous.

@BornInTzyon I couldn't agree more. Israel is a legitimate and legally established nation whose roots go back at least 3,700 years if not more. If anything, Israel has more right to exist than does the United States. I say this as an American who is proud of what this nation once was, and stood for, yet I am fully aware of our history and founding, good and bad. There are some unfortunate facts in our history, yet I don't think anyone seriously expects us to go back to England.

@stockinettestitch I am aware of the semi-democracy in Israel proper, where Arab Israelis have almost equal rights. However, there is no logical way that the same can be said for the Arab Palestinians in the occupied territories. If you look at the illegally annexed territory of East Jerusalem, you will note that the Arab Palestinians that live there are considered "permanent residents" under Israeli law and not citizens of Israel, even though Israel proclaims that area part of it's capital.
