  • So should we let our fingernails grow forever?

  • @Rinuvien Cutting the hair on the body is unnatural. The human body is an outcome of millions of years of fine tuning... evolution. If our bodies were supposed to exist with no hair... we would have no hair. If they were supposed to exisit with tatoo's and ear peircings... we would be born with those. Hair is a beautiful thing when perceived with an understanding of nature and the universe. The white part of your nails is dead. It is brittle and is designed to break. Hair is not.

  • Silly american sikh baba....jattanwa is not needed in this modern world in workplace or general living.

It is a personal choice. One can still be a devout sikh without jattanwa.

  • @childofthetao For the sake of hygiene. When nails are cut, we remove the dead portions of the nail. It is not only important for Sikhs to grow their hair, but to also keep clean and groom well. When we comb our hair, we take out dead hair (detached from our skin). When we wash our face, we take off dead skin. By that same principle, if one were to shave their beard or cut their hair, then it would be equivalent to taking out the entire nail. I am not Sikh, but this is my thought.

  • @childofthetao at a certain point they break automatically. Hair also do that( dead hairs), and we cut only dead nails.

  • Sikhs beleive hair is a gift from GOD ( Fact ) thats why we dont cut it. Other creachers of God when their souls leave their body their hair stops growing, Humans on the other hand hair keeps growing thats why we say it is a gift from GOD, Further the High Court of India has passed a LAW KEEPING OF HAIR is parramount to claim Sikhism, even plucking an eyebrow is is not accepted. The most important thing to a SIKH is the TRUTH even Higher is TRUTHFULL LIVING also the PROTECTION OF THE TRUTH

  • @childofthetao nice try..... one suggestion.....try growing them....ull see hw nature takes of its length. They are designed to break just like hair is designed to be replaced.

  • @kanthasingh54 dere r flaws everywhr my frend bt u cnt hold up to a reason nd keep on cryin... u mst ve read SGGS coz u felt like... or a kinda pulll in u read what s written in d same and i guess all encourage to do path, if am nt wrng...

  • @kanthasingh54 applause!!! nw my frend defies what our 10th Guru has said... :)

it does matter that u r clean shaven or not cuz u might b findin reasons to support d same :P nd tats wat most of d ppl do... find d reasons to support their OWN VERSION of religion... i do support wat is written in SGGS bt tat is written in another context....

and i mst say, u re quite expert in turnin d conversation d oder way arnd ;-)

  • @royalprince01

hahahahaha......and u say u 'respect what SGGS says'..!! How does it matter if im clean shaven or not?? Does my beard carry more weight than my words, my point of view?? Stop living in the superficial....start living according to the depth prescribed by SGGS!! Guru Granth Sahib says:

'Only those beards are true, which brush the feet of Satguru'!

Now i ask u....based on what is prescribed by SGGS...are u clean shaven? Do u follow SGGS?

  • @kanthasingh54 we all respct what SGGS says, but I have a question for u mate... r u clean shaven singh??

just a guess bro, no offence.... Peace!!

  • @kanthasingh54 Agreed wid on d point that Sikhi is not abt rituals, its abt logic... but do u mean whateva Khalsa panth says is not logical? 5Ks are illogical?? i suppose den one can b quite comfortable wid a jockey so use a "kachera" and ovsly deres no logic for "kanga" while u travel.. and moreova, y do one needs to carry kirpan wen deres no need for d same... i undrstnd dese r more of symbols to our identity and Singh sahab is tryin to explain higher meanings to one of d aspects...
