http://portablefilmfestival.com - Even at the height of Tijauna pickpocket paranoia, Mexico has probably never been quite as creepy (albeit in a cute way) in Austin TV's music video for their indie-instrumental single, 'Shiva.' Mario Lupo and his xoloscuincle dog, Kerdoc, out for a dose of the daily walkies, accidentally fall in a hidden magic forest and end up somewhere a lot more sinister (by which we mean surrounded by skeletons and fields of fire). Taking on traditional Mexican artistic influences, director Alberto Cerriteno seems to be channeling Mexico's Day of the Dead for some of his surreal decorative patterns.
In a way, the clip is an adaptation of sorts - Austin TV's album, designed as a booklet, tells the story of Mario Lupo, filled with sketches and stories that act as a fictitious diary - this being just one of the fables contained within...
Directed by Alberto Cerriteno Distributed by Tubemogul.
