Not all the anglo/euro immigrant populations that came to America owned slaves - swedes, norwegians, portugese, russians, germans, italians, polish, swiss, are all white and mostly didn't own slaves - you mean WASP mainly - white people differntiate among themselves by ethnicity - think german Catholics vs. Scottish Protestants, Swedes vs Italians - all "white" but with distinct differences - for advice on dealing, ask the Irish-Americans, they were despised for centuries -

That mind set is part of the problem with race. Have you heard of the 13th amendment? Ashkenazi Jews, Southern Europeans (Spaniards, Greeks, Italians etc.), Irish Catholics, Eastern Europeans and Germans at some point were not considered white. Early on in the United States, white generally referred to those of British Isles or northwestern European descent. The idea of race changes throughout time.
