The complete illustration process of a low-light night scene, using Wacom Intros tablet and Corel Painter on Mac. I am not familiar with this theme so it took (even) more back and forth drafting until I achieved the desired effect. But hey, it is always worth the effort when learning something new. So don't be afraid to practice with different themes in order to learn more techniques at a faster speed!

  • @chopsticks Thank you for the advice.

I considered to light the characters at the beginning but I found some cool feeling would be more... close to the theme. That's why I chose using focus other than lighting to emphasize the characters at last. A moon is really a good element and it may be what I feel "lacking" when I finished the work Orz

I like low light city views but, yeah, I am not yet good enough to deal with so many thoughts in one time.

PS, why doesn't the 'reply' button work...

  • seriously nice!! the platform really looked like a real pain to draw >__<!!! maybe a moon to cast some light and focus on the characters? since theyre blending/competing with the sky. right now the hottest values are in the city below.
