Just doing some destructive testing of my DIY Ribbon Microphone (www.DIYRibbonMic.com) and found that you can play music through it. It has excellent bass response when held close to my ear!!

  • Of course. It's exactly the same idea, but with a lot less power and full range - not just a tweeter.

  • @samisyosam

I know, thats all I was saying

  • @FCO0710 sm57 isn't a ribbon, but it is cheap enough for guilt-free experimentation.

  • note* probably wouldn't be wise to try this on an actual high dollar ribbon mic!

I have done this with my sm57 though, quite fun!

For those of you who dont know you can also use headphones as a mic...just plug to the line in on your computer!

  • Led Zeppelin!

Anyways, making ribbon headphones would be pretty damn cool :D

  • Never heard a ribbon tweeter before?

  • Actually you can play music through most mics.. never heard trough a ribbon before
