I am swimming freestyle in a public pool called "Schönbrunner Bad" sitting on a shady hill. The famous "Schönbrunn Castle" is located at its foot within 10 minutes walking distance.

  • Keep up the good work. You've got some good suggestions here. Follow all the way through with your stroke, keep your body straighter in line while rotating, keep your legs closer together and flutter faster. As for Zoomers there is one model that people like better than the other so research that before buying.

    That is one long pool! What is the length? I would love to get a video of my swimming to get some corrective criticism. :-)

    This is a 50m pool (54,68 yards). 50m pools are quite common here in Austria. In Vienna alone I have been to 4 different 50m pools, 2 of them are indoors.

    The "disadvantage" of a long pool: With a good push off the wall You are much faster in a shorter lane.

    I guess it is pure joy that gives me the strength to do 5km/plus at once. Last summer I swam from the Croatian mainland to the island of Hvar all by myself.

    I appreciate all the input so far.

  • Beaulanger - you're doing great! I am younger than you, and I'm only doing 18 LENGTHS so far in the 25 meter pool, not laps. My goal right now is to do 20 lengths, I'll get there soon.

  • 67 transplant patient swimming 1600m? I would like to see a video of that. Why not have someone shoot it and post it here on youtube then notify me as I would love to see it. Keep up the great work guys, it's inspiring me to fight for my health.

  • Youre a dedicated swimmwer. Try to point to where you are going. More tension from top to toe. And keep your but down, stretch your arms and roll that shoulers, you'll get longer arms.

    I am shure that it will take off at least 2 sec-50 mtr. Let me Know!

  • Wow, 5km/plus is amazing Gerald! I'm only swimming 1600m (one US mile, 32 laps in a 25m pool) 3 times a week and I thought I was doing good. I'm 67 years old and recently received a kidney transplant. :-)

    All the pools in this part of the US state where I live are 25m. You are very fortunate to have so many 50m pools available.

    I really admire you for your open water long distance swimming. WOW! You certainly set your goals high. Maybe I should set mine higher. :-)
