Dolly Parton's character (Doralee) is such a jerk in 9 to 5. Especially when she tells the boss that he is rotten and evil to the core. Then she ties him up in a chair with a telephone cord. Could someone please explain why she acted this way in that movie?

Mr. Hart: I'm very funny, but I don't like it when people give back my presents.

Doralee: Oh, you are rotten, Mr. Hart. Did anybody ever tell you that? I never thought I'd live to see the day I'd say this about another human being, but you are evil-- that's right --evil to the core!

Why on earth does Doralee have say this to Hart here? He's just giving his opinion on his feeling about someone giving back his presents.
