An intercity train service will be introduced between Colombo Fort and Vavuniya.
The new train will be operated in addition to the intercity train that leaves Fort Railway station for Vavuniya at 4.20pm The new service will commence tomorrow. The inaugural ceremony will be held at the Anuradhapura Railway Station under the patronage of Minister Kumara Welgama. The train will leave the Colombo Fort railway station at 6.50am and reach Anuradhapura at 10.02 am The Railway Department said that it reaches Vavuniya at 10.50am. The train that leaves Vavuniya at 3.10pm will reach Colombo at 8.15 pm. The train stops only at Polgahawela, Kurunegala, Galgamuva, Anuradhapura, Medawachchiya, and Vavuniya Railway Stations.
